Wigner distributions (nearly) everywhere: time-frequency analysis of signals, systems, random processes, signal spaces, and frames

چکیده
The Wigner distribution (WD) is perhaps the most prominent quadratic time–frequency signal representation. In this paper, which has mainly tutorial character but also contains some new results, we describe extensions of the WD concept to multidimensional vector signals, nonstationary random processes, linear time-varying systems (deterministic and random), linear signal spaces, and frames. We discuss the interpretation and properties of these WD extensions and various relations connecting them. Some application examples are also provided. ? 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. Pathologies cardiac discrimination using the Fast Fourir Transform (FFT) The short time Fourier transforms (STFT) and the Wigner distribution (WD)
This paper is concerned with a synthesis study of the fast Fourier transform (FFT), the short time Fourier transform (STFT and the Wigner distribution (WD) in analysing the phonocardiogram signal (PCG) or heart cardiac sounds. The FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) can provide a basic understanding of the frequency contents of the heart sounds. The STFT is obtained by calculating the Fourier tran...
متن کاملConditions for third-order stationarity and ergodicity of a harmonic random process
A method for time-frequency signal analysis is presented. Theproposed method belongs to the general class of smoothed pseudo Wignerdistributions. It is derived from the analysis of the Wigner distributiondefined in the frequency domain. This method provides some substantialadvantages over the Wigner distribution. The well-known cross termeffects are reduced or completely rem...
متن کاملPolynomial Time-Frequency Distributions and Time-Varying Higher Order Spectra: Application to Non-St - Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 1996., IEEE International Conference on
The paper deals with analysis and time-frequency representation of multicomponent signals characterised by non-linear frequency variation in time. A certain type of higher-order time-frequency distribution, referred to as Polynomial Wigner-Ville distribution [2], has been designed to achieve delta function concentration in the timefrequency plane for this class of signals. In the presence of mu...
متن کاملApplication of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation
Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...
متن کاملTime-Frequency Signal Processing: A Statistical Perspective
Time-frequency methods are capable of analyzing and/or processing nonstationary signals and systems in an intuitively appealing and physically meaningful manner. This tutorial paper presents an overview of some time-frequency methods for the analysis and processing of nonstationary random signals, with emphasis placed on time-varying power spectra and techniques for signal estimation and detect...
